Why Apple Cider Vinegar is a Must-have on Your Dinner Table This Festive Season.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar is a Must-have on Your Dinner Table This Festive Season.

With the season of festivities just around the corner, plans with family and friends are starting to come together. Most often throughout the year we all try to eat in a somewhat healthy manner, but we can all be honest and say we are already picturing the amount of delicious food we will be overindulging in this festive season (you are not alone here!). Apple cider vinegar in these circumstances may just be the little helper you’re looking for.

How ACV Assists the Digestive System

Apple cider vinegar is made by crushing apples, extracting the juice, adding choice bacteria and yeast (fermentation process begins) then it's time to let the specialised acetic-acid forming bacteria do their thing as they transform alcohol into vinegar - it’s quite a fascinating process! But how exactly does it assist over the festive season?

ACV can help to break down heavy, high carb meals and allows your body to digest them faster without slowing you down. Apple cider vinegar has acetic acid within it that helps to break down fats, whilst the prebiotics feed the probiotics, thus creating a thriving digestive environment. So with all this food being digested over the holiday season it's a very good idea to take some ACV either in our capsule form or liquid form (with water) in tandem to make sure you avoid that post lunch bloated feeling. ACV is also known to assist with constipation and does this by having the vinegar stimulate your digestive juices that help your body to break down food.

Avoid The ‘Food Coma’

We all know that aforementioned drowsy and sluggish feeling we get after a big Christmas lunch, it’s something we all accept as being part of the festive season, however it doesn’t have to be. With Apple cider vinegar you can give your body a fighting chance of beating the bloat and avoiding the cramping and discomfort that comes with it. Bloating after eating is caused by poor digestion and trapped gases within the intestinal tract, this is where ACV aids in breaking down fats and helps you with that ‘food coma’ feeling after indulging. If you remember to have some ACV just before your family feast begins you’ll be left feeling lighter for longer.

Control Your Sugar Cravings

It's not a question that the acetic acid in ACV works wonders, but Apple cider vinegar can also help you to battle those sugar cravings this holiday season. Every one of us is guilty of finding ourselves over at the dessert table more than once after a Christmas lunch, but for this year ACV may be able to help you out. Research has found that having ACV twice a day can regulate your blood sugar levels and in turn reduce sugar cravings. By having your first dose of ACV early in the morning you’ll keep your metabolism going all day, then have your second at dinner time, so that the next morning you wake up feeling light and more than ready for festive feast leftovers.
